Apply to Project Engineer / Project Manager
Project Engineer / Project Manager
Salary: $65,000-$75,000 base per year
Location: Brentwood, TN; client-site visits; office/remote arrangement to be confirmed
Employment type: Direct hire, full-time
Summary
CruiTek is recruiting a technical project leader for an IT services client in the Nashville area. This position combines responsibility for client technology projects with hands-on implementation work. Expect roughly 60-70% of the role to focus on project management and 30-40% on engineering.
You will take projects from the sales handoff through planning, delivery, cutover and support transition. Typical assignments include Microsoft 365 and cloud migrations, server upgrades, network improvements, security deployments and office relocations. You will report to the CIO and work closely with engineers, account teams, vendors and client stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least three years in an MSP, IT services organization or internal IT team, including project coordination or project management responsibilities.
- Practical knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, Microsoft 365, virtualization or cloud fundamentals, and networking such as TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.
- Experience balancing concurrent projects, deadlines, stakeholders and budgets, with clear communication for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Familiarity with PSA/ticketing and project planning tools. Relevant examples include ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, Microsoft Project, Planner and Smartsheet; the client's exact toolset will be confirmed.
- Willingness to visit client sites and support occasional after-hours work, with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Some equipment handling may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
Helpful experience, rather than additional requirements, includes project management or technical certifications; RMM, backup and security platforms; contributing to estimates or statements of work; and work in regulated or professional-services environments. PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco and relevant vendor credentials are examples of useful certifications.
Responsibilities
- Turn statements of work into practical delivery plans, schedules and resource assignments. Confirm scope, assumptions, dependencies and acceptance criteria before work starts.
- Lead kickoff and progress meetings, communicate changes clearly, track hours and budget, monitor project margin and address risks or scope changes early.
- Coordinate multiple projects and outside providers, including hardware vendors, carriers, internet providers and business application partners.
- Work alongside engineers on provisioning, configuration, migration and troubleshooting. The environment includes Windows servers and workstations, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi, backup and endpoint security.
- Support testing and go-live readiness, including occasional evening or weekend cutovers.
- Keep project records and time entries current in the PSA. Deliver useful network diagrams, configuration records and runbooks so support teams can take ownership after completion.
- Improve delivery templates, onboarding checklists and handoffs; report on project backlog and utilization, and share client feedback or follow-on needs with the account team.
Success in this role means reliable delivery against schedule and budget, healthy project margins, satisfied clients, complete support handoffs and a manageable project backlog. The source role targets at least 90% on-time/on-budget delivery and complete documentation for every closed project.
Benefits and work expectations
Base salary is $65,000-$75,000. The client describes health, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) with a 3% employer match, paid time off, holidays, and training/certification reimbursement. Regular client-site visits are part of the work. The exact office, hybrid or remote arrangement remains to be confirmed; this is not a confirmed fully remote opening.
CruiTek welcomes qualified applicants. Candidate evaluation will focus on the experience and capabilities relevant to the role.
