SME Google Workspace Engineer- Remote 100% Remote 1yr Contract Start Date: ASAP *No 3rd Parties- you must be able to go W2 with me, no sponsorship or working with employers. *Must be SME
Scope: Own day‑to‑day incident response for issues related to Google Workspace (with emphasis on Gmail mail flow, performance, routing, and delivery problems). Troubleshoot and resolve technical glitches involving:
Gmail inbox behavior, labels, rules/filters, and quotas
Mail routing, DNS (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and SMTP/relay configurations
User access, authentication, and authorization issues (SSO/OAuth/SAML).
Use Google Workspace Admin SDK and Gmail API to:
Investigate complex issues across multiple users and domains
Build or maintain scripts/automation for reporting, monitoring, and bulk remediation
Improve operational efficiency (for example, automated health checks and post‑incident validation).
Collaborate with internal teams and partners to coordinate responses to recurring or high‑impact issues, including root cause analysis and permanent fixes. Provide Tier 3 support to internal IT or operations teams for escalated Google Workspace and Gmail issues.
Assist with configuration review and best‑practice hardening of Google Workspace, including:
Gmail security and compliance policies
Group and sharing models
Audit/logging and monitoring approaches using available tools.
Support coexistence with Microsoft 365, including understanding of basic Exchange Online concepts, user provisioning, and mail flow between platforms, as needed.
Contribute to and maintain runbooks, knowledge base articles, and playbooks for common issues and remediation paths.
Participate in an on‑call or after‑hours rotation (as required) for critical incident management.
