A confidential client is seeking an Engineering Manager with deep expertise in thermal system design and heat transfer applications. This role is a confidential hire at a Sarasota-based company and requires discretion throughout the process.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical engineer who has progressed into leadership but still enjoys working directly on CAD models, thermal calculations, and design reviews. You will serve as the subject matter expert for heat transfer systems (heat exchangers, radiators, oil/transmission coolers, or similar technologies) while managing a small, focused engineering team.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
Strong technical foundation in heat transfer, thermal system design, and fluid dynamics
Proven experience designing or supporting heat exchangers, radiators, or adjacent thermal systems
Proficiency with 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and engineering documentation (BOMs, routings, tolerances)
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and collaborate cross-functionally
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small team while remaining technically hands-on
Familiarity with OE manufacturing standards (PPAP, APQP, customer approval processes)
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for product design, engineering output, and quality support
Lead and mentor a small engineering team.
Own the full engineering lifecycle: concept, CAD design, thermal modeling, customer quoting, and production support
Act as the internal thermal SME, ensuring all products meet mechanical and thermal performance requirements
Review and approve design documentation, routings, and BOMs
Drive manufacturability reviews, cost optimization efforts, and continuous improvement
Collaborate closely with plant leadership, sales, quality, and customer service teams
Maintain clear, professional communication and documentation across all projects
