A confidential client is seeking a mechanically driven, technically hands-on Engineering Manager to lead product design and engineering operations at its Sarasota-area OEM manufacturing facility. This is a confidential replacement search for a current role, and discretion is required throughout the process.
This position is ideal for a mechanical design engineer who has grown into leadership, but still enjoys rolling up their sleeves to work on CAD models, thermal calculations, and design reviews. The role requires deep knowledge of thermal systems — including heat exchangers, radiators, or similar technologies — along with the ability to manage cross-functional engineering projects from concept to production.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (4-year ABET-accredited)
Strong technical foundation in heat transfer, thermal system design, and fluid dynamics
Experience designing or supporting heat exchangers, radiators, oil/transmission coolers, or adjacent thermal applications
Proficiency with 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and engineering documentation (BOMs, routings, tolerances)
Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams while remaining technically involved
Familiarity with OE manufacturing standards, including PPAP, APQP, and customer approval processes
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with direct responsibility for engineering output, product design, and quality support
Lead and mentor a small but capable team of design and manufacturing engineers
Own the engineering lifecycle: from concept, thermal modeling, and CAD design to customer quoting and production support
Review and approve design documentation, routings, and BOMs
Ensure all products meet mechanical and thermal performance specifications
Participate in manufacturability reviews and cost optimization efforts
Act as the internal subject matter expert (SME) for heat transfer fundamentals and product performance
Interface with plant leadership, quality, sales, and customer service teams
Maintain clear, accurate project documentation and status reporting
Opportunity to own and lead engineering at a growing, U.S.-based OEM
Visibility with senior leadership and direct impact on technical strategy
Relocation support for top candidates excited to join a Sarasota-based facility
Strong internal backing to drive performance, improve systems, and build a best-in-class team
This is a confidential search. Details about the company, facility, and current leadership will only be shared with short-listed candidates under NDA or similar discretion guidelines.
