Client HQ in Santa Monica, CA.  Ability to work PST hours and travel as needed is highly desired.
 
Scope:
Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Networks through a 6 month contract-to-hire engagement. This senior leadership position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the client's complex network infrastructure across all global offices. The ideal candidate will bring both strong technical expertise and strategic leadership to enhance network resilience, stability, and security while fostering improved collaboration between network operations and other technical departments.
 
Must Have:
·         Expertise managing complex enterprise networks, collaboration between network and infosec, communication skills to work closely alongside CIO
·         10+ years of progressive experience in network administration and engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
·         Strong expertise with Cisco technologies and network equipment
 
Nice to Have:
·         Advanced certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent
·         Experience working in research, defense, government, or similar regulated environments
·         Experience with zero-trust

Job Description
    1. Lead and manage a team of 5-10 network professionals responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of the client's global network infrastructure
    2. Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for the enterprise network infrastructure, including global WAN connectivity, campus LANs, metropolitan area networks, wireless systems, cloud networking, and hybrid infrastructure solutions
    3. Develop and execute strategies to improve network resilience, stability, and performance across the organization
    4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other technical departments, particularly security, to ensure a collaborative approach to infrastructure management
    5. Work across different security domains and ensure network operations comply with appropriate security standards for handling sensitive information
    6. Manage capital and operational budget for network infrastructure and related projects
    7. Create and maintain documentation of network architecture, policies, and procedures
    8. Develop and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans for network infrastructure
    9. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the organization maintains a modern, secure, and efficient network environment
    10. Lead network modernization initiatives and special projects to address historical issues with outages and system reliability

Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred
    2. 10+ years of progressive experience in network administration and engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
    3. Strong expertise with Cisco technologies and network equipment
    4. Demonstrated experience designing and managing complex enterprise networks that span multiple locations and security domains
    5. Experience managing networks that support sensitive or classified information
    6. Proven ability to lead technical teams and develop talent
    7. Strong budget management experience
    8. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
    9. Experience fostering collaboration between network operations and other IT departments, especially security teams
    10. History of successfully improving network stability and reducing outages in complex environments

Preferred Qualifications
    1. Advanced certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent
    2. Experience working in research, defense, government, or similar regulated environments
    3. Prior security clearance or ability to obtain appropriate clearance
    4. Experience with zero-trust network architecture
    5. Knowledge of network security frameworks such as NIST and implementation experience
    6. Experience with network automation and software-defined networking technologies
    7. Background in managing networks that support high-performance computing environments
